it's nice to meet you!

about Mitsuko Lili

I am an artist from Boise, Idaho and I have always enjoyed making art.

I attended Boise State University graduating in 2018 with a BFA in Illustration. I learned a variety of skills that I still implement in my work today, including realistic portraiture techniques and printmaking methods.

While my art aims to visualize a narrative related to practicing mindfulness, the purpose of my work is to center the viewer and find something that may have been missed upon first glance. The detail orientated nature of my art, as well as the use of contrasting and vibrant colors, is enticing and it forces the viewer to look carefully and slowly. My art is associated with the present day, but my hope is to evoke a memory response from the viewer that may have been forgotten through time.

On the day-to-day you can find me cuddling with my kittens, Taro, the tuxedo cat, and Bento, the tabby cat. Taro and Bento are a huge inspiration for my creative drive and they enjoy hanging out with me in my art studio watching VHS tapes on my 2002 Toshiba television.
